Prezcobix (Darunavir and Cobicistat) + Triumeq (Dolutegravir + Lamivudine + Abacavir)

Combining Prezcobix and Triumeq has not been found to cause negative after-effects. These drugs can be taken together in prescribed doses. However, it does not guarantee immunity against side effects. Consult your healthcare provider on possible risks that can occur when combining both drugs.

Information About Prezcobix (Darunavir / Cobicistat)

Prezcobix is a double combination medication made up of darunavir and cobicistat. It is usually administered to adult patients alongside other antiretrovirals to treat HIV-1 [1]. Darunavir inhibits the action of protease enzyme necessary for viral replication. Cobicistat is grouped under the class of cytochrome P450 3A inhibitors, and it is regarded as a booster for protease inhibitors. It’s important to note, that this medication does not cure HIV.

Information About Triumeq (Dolutegravir / Lamivudine / Abacavir)

Triumeq is a drug composed of three antiretroviral agents in fixed dosages with distinct mechanisms of action used to treat HIV patients who weigh at least 40 kg [2]. It can be taken on its own and with other ARV meds. Consult your doctor for more information about medication and usage.

Triumeq contains dolutegravir, lamivudine, and abacavir that belong to different groups of inhibitors but have similar functions that aim at blocking the process of viral proliferation. While dolutegravir is categorized under the integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs), lamivudine and abacavir belong to the class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) effective in the treatment of HIV-1 and HIV-2 [2]. All active ingredients work by regulating the amount of virus in the blood, thereby controlling infection.

How Do Prezcobix and Triumeq Interact with Each Other?

Prezcobix and Triumeq can be co-administered safely with a risk of little to no serious side effects [3]. Since darunavir, one of the main constituents of Prezcobix, is usually most effective when used in combination with other antiretrovirals, it can be taken with Triumeq. No adverse after-effects or health complications have been recorded from a combination of Prezcobix and Triumeq, but rather, reports show a highly subdued level of the virus when these two drugs were combined. It is advisable to consult your healthcare provider for more information about drug usage and interaction.
